Colored emojis between different browsers

Hello!

Maybe someone can help me with an emoji problem or a unicode problem. Everything’s fine in the message window but the channel window causes some headache.

First I have to say I’m using Arch Linux on my private desktop. My wife uses Ubuntu 18.04 on her private laptop, as do I on my work laptop. We often recommend using Rambox for messaging needs; basically it’s a website wrapper for several messaging and mailing services built upon Chromium. When using unicode characters like emojis in the channel names they are black & white in Rambox, Vivaldi, and Chromium, but colored in Firefox. But only on my desktop and my wife’s laptop. On my work laptop they are colored also in Rambox. Eventually, Firefox is no problem anywhere but the Chromium based applications behave differently.

I think the problem lies in the installed fonts but I cannot figure out where those glyphs are originating from. Any hints?

Actually, these emojis are those also used in the message area and also by Chromium.

Matterpoll 1.1.0 Released

Matterpoll 1.1.0 got released. Matterpoll is a Mattermost plugin which allows users to create polls via a slash command.

This release bring two new feature and a couple of small improvements to Matterpoll:

  • Localizations: If you are a not a English native speaker, this is good news. Messages are now localized! The currently supported languages are: English, France (thanks ldidry!), German, Japanese (Thanks kaakaa!). Take a look at the Readme for more information.
  • Additional options: Every created a poll, forgot one option and had to delete and recreate the poll? This is no longer a problem. You can now add options to a poll even while it is running!

The pre complied binary is available on GitHub .

Web plugin is unvailable, message will be posted hook

Summary

registry.registerMessageWillBePostedHook is undefined, when I trying to use it in web plugin. Other registers works pretty well but when i checked registry properties it is not visible. My mattermost version is latest (5.9.1). That register is defined in mattermost documentation so i think it should be available. Anyone used it?

What do you think about allowing plugins to open Interative Dialogs independent of a triggerID?

@hanzei Are there any potential consequences with enabling that? If not, opening a Help Wanted ticket for it seems like a good option.

[SOLVED] MySQL COLLATE issue with CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 in 5.10.0

Summary

Upgrading from 5.8.0 to 5.10.0 creates the new bots table with COLLATE utf8mb4_general_ci

Steps to reproduce

Upgrade from 5.8.0 or earlier to 5.10.0 and start mattermostd. This creates the new bots table with COLLATE utf8mb4_general_ci and then writes an error in the log that utf8mb4_unicode_ci and utf8mb4_general_ci are not compatible for =.

Expected behavior

mattermostd should honor the preference set by the admin via system variables:

collation_connection = utf8mb4_unicode_ci
collation_database = utf8mb4_unicode_ci
collation_server = utf8mb4_unicode_ci

Given the above collation settings, this fixes the issue allowing mattermostd 5.10.0 to startup again:

ALTER TABLE bots CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;

@Hanzei I’ve drafted a ticket to allow interactive dialogs to be triggered by plugins without clicking an interactive button/menu or without using slash commands

However, I’m contemplating options for the proposed change. Instead of allowing plugins to open a dialog without a TriggerId, should we have the plugin generate one? There should always be some user action that triggers the dialog.

Gitea OAuth2 Provider support

The team edition currently only supports GitLab as an OAuth2 provider. This is very limiting.
Gitea is a really great and popular open source, community supported Git server.
I would love to see Mattermost support for using Gitea as an OAuth2 Provider.

No system console access

I set up a mattermost server (5.10 on CentOS 6). Going to port 8065 everything seemed fine.

Then I went into the System Console and turned on TLS on port 443.

Restarted mattermost server process. I can still get in as a user, but my user can no longer see System Console.

In the database:

I see this error only on my local example. On demo.mattermost.com everything is working, but there is another version - 5.7.0 (
I have 5.9), maybe this is the case.
