I’m not sure but maybe it is because the initdb.sql
script is run as the postgres
user. When you use docker exec
you run the command as root
user.
Restoring mattermost DB from docker file
Forced to select team on login even though already a member
Hi @user2019,
One possibility is that they could be clicking on a link that then redirects them to the team.
If the above doesn’t sound possible, can you help share any additional relevant details about your environment (e.g. device, OS, Mattermost server version)?
Time off by one hour for Macs running OSX Mojave 10.14.3
For feature requests, please see: http://www.mattermost.org/feature-requests/.
For troubleshooting questions, please post in the following format:
Summary
All Macs running OSX Mojave 10.14.3 Mattermost Application messages run an hour behind. PCS, and macs running on older OS are unaffected, web mattermost is fine (not server related).
Steps to reproduce
Latest Mattermost Mac Application 4.2 + Mac OS Mojave 10.14.3
Expected behavior
Mac users should see time reflect actual system time (that of related to the MM server) which points to our local NTP.
Observed behavior
All Mac users on the above MM + OS version experience 1 hour behind the actual system time. Mac users on older versions of MM do not see this issue - this only affects the Mac application. PC users and web mattermost show correct time.
API Upload File not uploading
Hi @amy.blais
I’m using cURL via PHP, but using just curl, the command is that:
curl -F 'files=/var/www/html/public/uploads/chat/p7nxd4pe8fgn9yyzrrujwuadww_user_er.PNG' \
-F 'channel_id=p7nxd4pe8fgn9yyzrrujwuadww' \
--header 'authorization: Bearer yiiw7i3r13nodm9tke1exppgne'
http://192.168.240.59:8065/api/v4/files
The file exists in the directory and has permissions to read and execute (plus write for file owner).
Thanks

Hi Amy, a bad link does not seem to be the case.
We are running MM EE 5.8.0 in OpenShift, the docker image OS is CentOS 7.
Users have reported this several times on the web client, not the desktop or mobile client.

To be clear, it’s redirecting to the /select_team landing page for some reason, but not consistently

Hi @user2019,
Would you or the affected users be able to capture any Mattermost logs or Console logs when the issue happens next time?
How to start the server without pinging the DB
Hi @Miguel,
Feedback from a community member:
In case you are allowed to share, it would be nice to read what exactly the Amazon support said. Is there a reason for them to use an IP address instead of a hostname?
How to start the server without pinging the DB
AWS does give me a hostname as the DB endpoint, and I have used both the hostname and the IP address in the "datasource"section of config.json, and both fail.
I can connect successfully to the DB using both the hostname and the IP address using a mysql command.
AWS tech support says that from the beginning of the service “pinging” the endpoint has never been allowed for security reasons. The weird thing is that I have read posts of people successfully connecting Mattermost to an AWS (RDS) MySQL Database, so I don’t understand how people did it. Maybe in previous versions Mattermost server was allowed to start without pinging first??. Can I change some setting so that Mattermost doesn’t check first and just connects to the DB?
Thank you for any help.

I’ll try and grab some. I just checked the MM/console logs and nothing stood out to me. Also the MM log file has no timestamps, is that a configuration thing?
Community Design Meeting: Folded Reply Threads
@D.R Good question! Would you be open to joining our public community channel for folded reply threads? https://community.mattermost.com/core/channels/folded-reply-threads
The channel header contains a work-in-progress spec, and you can stay updated on changes and news there.
Community Design Meeting: Folded Reply Threads
We’ve also shifted focus more towards hearing from the community and updated the agenda accordingly (all times in San Francisco timezone):
- (10:00am) - Meeting recording begins. (Sharing video is optional)

- (10:05am) Current state of design + expectation on roadmap
- (10:10am) Q&A with community
- Painpoints and confusing aspects of the existing Mattermost threading functionality

I want to create channel name of 2 byte character in application version
I think that this is probably a specification.
When the user specifies the channel name with 2-byte characters, it is noted with red letters “Name must be lowercase alphanumeric characters of two or more letters”.
Currently it is once created in alphabetic characters and modified to 2-byte characters after channel generation.
2-byte characters can be used with PC version, PC web browser, smartphone web browser without problem.
Will this be a feature request? Or is there a way to make it happen?

Changing DefaultServerLocale always resets to "en" on server startup
Hello,
i hope you can help me.
I have configured the value “DefaultServerLocale”: “de” and “DefaultClientLocale”: “de” in my config.json
But every time i start the server it is reset to “en”.
The same happen if i change the options in admin_console.
Other options worked - like Email Settings or SqlSettings.

Hi @lolman88,
What Mattermost server version are you on?
There was recently a bug related to this issue and it was fixed in v5.8 release: https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-13680.
I recommend upgrading your server version in case you’re on an older version.

Hi @user2019,
Thank you. Those are Unix timestamps (change is documented here). According to the documentation you should be able to switch to plain text output.

This was fixed when the reporter enabled this setting: https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/config-settings.html#display-settings-experimental.
