Linux Mattermost desktop start minimized from command line

@Sandmonster Hello there. I’m the packager and maintainer of the Mattermost stack for Arch Linux. You are thus using my package :slightly_smiling_face:

Actually I have tested the --hidden argument and it is working like intended on Arch Linux, using KDE Plasma. The application is launched properly and automatically reduced to my systray.

Maybe the culprit here is i3? Or at least, my question is, do you have dbus installed and properly plugged into i3? Because I checked using dbus-monitor and a lot happens wrt. Mattermost when you run it minimized.

Hi @hjj,

Thanks for your report…

I believe you will need to upgrade your Android version as the minimum version required to run Mattermost v1.15 app is Android 7.0

Why was MM iOS v1.15 message menu modified?

Hi all,

I’ve notice the new menu in v1.15.

This new look looks out of place to me. Was iOS version deployed with the wrong style by mistake?

Maybe its just a question of taste but I prefer the original black ballon. Same used in many other iOS apps.

Why was it modified?

I appreciate all that, and sorry, was tired and frustrated last night.

Should have said - there’s an example of creating users_file for Okta there’s an example for OneLogin… but when it comes to ADFS there’s nothing but a one line sentence - For ADFS, you can use the AD/LDAP protocol to directly extract the users information and export it to a JSON file.

Some of us that work on MM have to wear so many different hats at work, was hoping just to find a simple how-to answer in the docs rather than researching testing, etc.

Upgraded to v5.6, Get an error when attaching files

Hi @adanial, I didn’t do an exhaustive test on different file types. I tried a text file and an excel file. Both showed the same problem. One thing I forgot to mention, is that I tried it with Chrome and the desktop client, both got the white screen and had to reload to recover. Even after reloading the issue persisted. I even cleared the cache and reloaded and still had the same issue. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop 4.2 client to see if that helped which It didn’t.

Weirdly enough, I believe it worked okay with Microsoft’s Edge browser. I didn’t have time to do a lot of testing before I rolled back to 5.5. I didn’t get a chance to try it with Firefox.

Great, updating Android is out of the question.
Now I have to find a previous build.
Wondering why this update installed in the first place when it is incompatible.

@hij We’re looking at taking the following actions:

  1. Cut a new build (164) containing Mattermost 1.14 and deploy it for Android
  2. Cut a build (165) containing 1.15 with the minimum version set correctly, so that the previous Mattermost version is retained for older devices (the new version will only be installed on Android 7+).

Our team is working on these first thing tomorrow morning. Appreciate your report and hope to get this resolved for you soon.

No notification when get a direct message

Hello @mk2010!

Certainly - you can take the following steps:

  1. As a System Admin, enable email notifications on System Console > Email. This helps ensure emails are sent for things like resetting a password.
  2. As a user, go to Account Settings > Notifications > Email Notifications, and configure your preferences when notifications are sent for mentions and direct messages. If you disable them, then no email notifications are sent for direct messages. However, they continue to be sent for system notices such as for password resets.

  1. Can you take a screenshot of the first two settings you see in System Console > AD/LDAP?
  2. Where do you see their login method displayed? In System Console > Users?

Hey Jason, meanwhile the settings are the same as before, the login with LDAP also worked, but why the settings were just gone, I can not understand.
Not that at some point these settings are gone and the user can not log in, that would be a disaster. Currently we are not productive, but I hope from mid-January

Notification question

A user has asked if there’s a way to prevent new posts in certain channels from displaying the red indicator on the taskbar icon (in Windows) but he would still like the channel name in the list to be bold to indicate that there’s unread posts. I’m guessing the answer is no but is there any way to do this?

but why the settings were just gone, I can not understand.

  1. Can you check you have a license uploaded at System Console > Edition and License? (the page is near the bottom of the left-hand side list in System Console)
  2. Can you help take a screenshot of your About Mattermost modal? (from Main Menu > About Mattermost)

Upgrade path from 4.1 to 5.4

Can we do a direct upgrade from 4.1 to 5.4?

I’m also running the enterprise version on 4.1. We’re waiting for the license renewal but if I upgrade anyway, will I still have my current functionality? Or will I lose LDAP authentication until I get the new license?

Yes, you are right, at the time I wrote that, I though that each ADFS is more unique in terms of how to get the users data, because it depends a lot in the structure. Maybe we can create a basic example for that, similar to the other examples, and trying to have enough “variables” to deal with the most common cases. I’ll try to write something during today, or tomorrow.

  1. You can upgrade directly from 4.1 to 5.4. However, I woulds strongly recommend following our upgrade guides, including database backups, and carefully reviewing the list of important upgrade notes
  2. If your Enterprise license has expired, I would recommend waiting until you have received the new one before upgrading. If it has not expired, then you can safely upgrade.

Hi @mugwump - the short answer is no as the red indicator is based on whether the channel is marked as unread.

Perfect! Just wanted to make sure following the upgrade guide was the only thing I needed to do.

The Enterprise license has expired. I’m guessing we’re having random LDAP authentication issues because of it. Since the PO is in processes, I’ve requested another trial license to ensure that we’re functional over the holiday for all users. Hopefully that comes through and we can ride that out until the PO is executed.
